mi shack

by Perth Architect - Marcus Browne.

“One day I got a call from a local builder who was on the look for an alternative architect-designed product which represented the ‘down south lifestyle’ but catered to client demands for a hassle-free, budget-conscious architecture in a simple design and build solution … mi shack was born. - Marcus.

Local Perth architect Marcus Browne has been keeping a fabulous little secret from us all. If you haven’t heard of a ‘shack house’ before, let me explain - the shacks are all of a modular architectural design that you basically plug and play (bits of this house, bits of that house - like the best ‘mixed tape’ you ever made). You Map iT. Zone iT. Style iT. Pimp iT!!

This is the moment to get out your air guitars and go, full lounge band, because there really is NO simpler way to have an architect-designed home right here in Perth.

Mi Shack Marcus Browne Architect

THE NUTSHELL.

mi shack is a system of modular zones that packages the design process into pre-defined elements.

By systemising the process they can create design-led soulful architecture but keep costs in check. I’m in love with the concept because great architecture will never be cheap but it should never be out of reach either.

This provides more surety of outcome for you than a bespoke design process which naturally has more unknowns. These zones are versatile baby, they can flip, slide, spin and float under two roof types, keeping every mi shack unique!

mi shack is positioned for those who desire the touch of an architect but don’t wish to go through the expense, complexity and cost unknowns commonly associated with a bespoke design process. Plus, you get to hang with Marcus and Maxximus (wing dog and co-chair of your design).

It’s simply a new way to design using a modular system of preconfigured zones and pre-defined elements delivered via an uncomplicated construction system that utilises a hybrid of prefabricated and site built elements.

With inspo from the Mid-Century Modernists they’re calling it New Century Modern.

This is the service I’ve been hoping and praying for Perth and I know you have too. You asked, I found, it’s here. Welcome to mi shack!
