Bonus episode : part 2 of what does an architect do exactly?

In this bonus episode we had the opportunity to walk & talk with the lovely Nancy, client of Keen Architecture and home owners of the gorgeous Burt St house we posted in the first plog (reminder images below). We spent half a day having a fat time with Nancy as she shared with us the journey from start to finish about why hiring an architect was the best thing for them, what Kris brought to the table, the unexpected that comes from bringing in a professional and how personally they also experienced growth as a couple.

Nancy honestly couldn't have been more generous with her time or her home when we visited her recently to really find out what it was like to work with Architect Kris Keen.

The epic fundamental that rings through the entire episode is how down to earth Kris was in his approach to this project. Save for his one moment (that had to hit the cutting room floor due to time restraints) where he put his foot down insisting that the sliding curved glass door stay at all costs; this interview serves a prime example of how the stereotype we’ve come to believe of so many architects does not encapsulate them all. Some are just “plain old problem solvers”, a quote from the man himself in episode 1.

Because we feel this is one conversation that’s best actually listened to rather than skimmed over, we won’t be putting up any easy takeaway’s for you or our regular cheat sheet. Instead, take a look at these images and immerse yourself in our tour of the Burt St residence & enjoy the honesty and journey that Nancy has kindly shared with us.

For those of you who missed part 1 though - we got your back. You can listen here.

Next week we kick off Season 6 with a re-introduction to iconic Perth lighting brand. In the meantime we’d love your comments below on this exciting episode & better yet a ‘review’ would on Apple Podcasts would be incredible.
